M.E.N.s
Men - 1 in 8 men in England suffer from mental health problems
77% of men struggle with anxiety, stress or depression.

Suicide is the leading cause of death in men under 50

These figures are huge and I doubt they even touch the surface as I believe many men will suffer in silence. Men don't always talk about their mental health because of society's expectations and traditional gender roles which play a big part in why men are less likely to seek help or discuss their mental health issues, they don't want to appear weak and like they can't cope!
These stereotypes and expectations can be damaging to men, and to cover up and escape how they are feeling, they will use coping techniques like drugs and alcohol, avoiding talking to family or friends about their feelings and emotions, leading to men making bad life choices, feeling trapped in their heads, head f*cked and feeling stuck, without knowing what to do to break the cycle of their destruction.

The guilt and shame build up and they get stuck on a merry-go-round, not knowing when or how to stop and get off the ride!

This is why I use M.E.N.S which highlights the importance of:
* Managing their mental health through healing
* Empowerment through open conversation
* Nurturing their emotional health
* Seeking Support
Active listening, encourages discussion about means mental health.
